Wellness Measures

March 9, 2020

In light of ongoing concerns about coronavirus and Covid-19, we wanted to let everyone know the measures we are taking here at Images Cinema.

The safety of our community is paramount to us, and while the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency still considers the overall risk to Massachusetts residents low, there are several steps we can all take to further minimize any risk of infection.

Whether at home and in public, there are several general preventative recommendations we should all follow. First and foremost, if you are not feeling well, stay home. This is what we are telling our staff and volunteers, and this is what we would suggest to our audience and community. The most powerful weapon we have against the spread of this or any germ is throughly washing our hands with soap and water. Wash them for at least 20 seconds, taking care to include your thumb, the backs of your hands and between your fingers. For an easy timing reminder, sing "Happy Birthday" to yourself twice or the alphabet song once.

We know it's hard, but try to avoid touching your face, especially your eyes, nose and mouth. If you do, use a tissue.

Keep tissues on hand, and use them to cover any coughs or sneezes.

We have also taken several Images-specific steps to address areas of concern. Over the weekend, we installed two touchfree hand sanitizer dispensers, one near our box office and one just outside of the auditorium. We have also put out several countertop dispensers of sanitizer in the lobby and the bathroom. We encourage everyone to help themselves.

We have expanded our cleaning efforts to focus more on highly-trafficed areas and commonly touched places like arm rests, doors and door handles, countertops and faucets. These areas will be wiped down repeatedly throughout the day with disinfecting wipes.

We have also removed our community blankets from the auditorium.

Please know that we are monitoring this situation very closely. In addition to local news, we are watching the web sites of both the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and the national Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which are updated regularly and are the best resources for comprehensive and current information. We are also in dialogue with other cinemas across the nation about the best preventative measures we can take as an industry.

As we all move forward, we will continue to review and revise our response in accordance to the most up-to-date information and recommendations. In the meantime, if anyone has any questions, please feel free to contact me directly.

Please care of yourself, and let's take care of one another.
