Academy-Award winner for Best Animated Feature Film, WALL-E is the last robot left on Earth. He spends his days tidying up the planet, one piece of garbage at a time. But during 700 years, WALL-E has developed a personality, and he's more than a little lonely. Then he spots EVE, a sleek and modern probe sent back to Earth on a scanning mission. Smitten WALL-E embarks on his greatest adventure yet when he follows EVE across the galaxy.

“Mixing Chaplinesque delicacy with the architectural grandeur of a Stanley Kubrick film, director Andrew Stanton recycles film history and makes something fresh and accessible from it without pandering to a young audience.”

Hairspray

Starring: Divine, Debbie Harry, Ricki Lake, Ruth Brown

Ricki Lake and Divine star in John Water's bubble-gum comedic musical masterpiece. When Tracy auditions for a spot on a popular teen dance show, she beats out the spiteful Amber von Tussle, winning over Amber's boyfriend in the process. After meeting some black students at her school, Tracy begins to push for more racial integration on the dance show. This gets her into trouble on many sides, especially with Amber's pushy parents, played by Sonny Bono and Deborah Harry.

Black Panther

Starring: Chadwick Boseman, Danai Gurira, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong'o, Daniel Kaluuya, Forest Whitaker, Letitia Wright, Angela Bassett, Andy Serkis, Martin Freeman

After his father's death, King T’Challa returns home to the reclusive, technologically advanced African nation of Wakanda to serve as his country’s new leader. However, T’Challa soon finds that he is challenged for the throne from factions within his own country. When two foes conspire to destroy Wakanda, the hero known as Black Panther must team up with C.I.A. agent Everett K. Ross and members of the Dora Milaje, Wakanadan special forces, to prevent Wakanda from being dragged into a world war.

  • Director: Ryan Coogler
  • Rating: PG-13
  • Runtime: 2 hours 14 minutes
  • Genre: Adventure, Action

“One of the year's best films, and one that transcends the superhero genre to emerge as an epic of operatic proportions. The numerous battle sequences that are staples of the genre are present, but they float on the surface of a deep ocean of character development and attention to details both grandiose and minute.”
